Autumn in New York…the beauty of it was enough to inspire an iconic song performed by famous crooners like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Diana Krall. So, why not start the season in a picturesque, historic Hudson River home? A special one just listed.

For $6.5 million, the next owner of the iconic Ding Dong House in Snedens Landing can join the impressive list of people to have lived here—including actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, producer Jerome Robbins, and composer Aaron Copland. However, this star-studded list isn’t the only thing that makes the home storied.

Originally built in 1750 by John Sneden, whose family ran the ferry from Snedens Landing to Dobbs Ferry, the home had an addition in 1860. The Sneden family occupied the home for almost 200 years, and it was coined the Ding Dong House because of a bell that hung over the gate. It’s also known as The Watson House since in the 1890s, the Watson family offered the home and 300 books inside of it for public use. It’s remembered as the first local library in the Palisades, and later became the first of Francois and Mary Lawrence Tonetti’s 25-30 Snedens Landing homes.

Over the last five years, the property underwent a $2.5 million restoration. Weathering the centuries well, the pre-Revolutionary War Dutch farmhouse features an idyllic porch overlooking the pool and Hudson River. Three bedrooms and charming living areas fill the 3,200-square-feet interiors. Adding to the allure, it’s being offered fully furnished, including antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries.
