Jim Carrey Puts His Lush, Longtime L.A. Residence on the Market for $28.9M

Real estate is starting to ramp up and A-listers are listing in Los Angeles. Just last week, J. Lo put her Bel Air estate on the market and now actor Jim Carrey has listed his longtime primary residence, a lush Brentwood property. Owning the home since 1994, Carrey said in a statement to The Wall Street Journal that it has been “a place of enchantment and inspiration” to him. Now, the comedic movie star famous for films like The Mask, The Truman Show, and Dumb and Dumber is looking to sell his L.A. refuge for $28.9 million.

Spanning two acres and roughly 12,700 square feet of interiors, it’s undoubtedly a place that encourages you to slow down and get out into nature. Lush patios, sprawling lawns, a tennis court, a pool with a waterfall, and winding paths all invite you to stop and smell the roses. There’s also an infrared sauna and steam room, plus a yoga and meditation platform amidst the soaring trees, so one can escape for moments of wellness any time.

But, that’s not to say the property forgets about fun or entertainment. One look at the pool house with a bar or the custom Art Deco theater with luxurious mohair sofas and it’s clear you’ll never get bored. Carrey obviously didn’t, hanging onto the expansive abode for almost 30 years.

Built in 1951 but displaying contemporary updates, the interiors brim with natural light and lofty spaces for an organic, relaxed atmosphere. The chef’s kitchen is poised to become a favorite spot for foodies. After all, how many homes have an indoor BBQ station? Meanwhile, those whose guilty pleasure is bubble baths will swoon over the primary suite with rich wood paneling in the bathroom and a stunning fireplace. It’s the ultimate place to get cozy and warm.

Tucked privately behind tall hedges, potential buyers have much to discover here. Janelle Friedman of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the five-bedroom listing, bringing the home to market for the first time since Carrey bought it.
