Rupert Murdoch Sells a Posh Unit in One Madison While Asking $58M for Another

After putting two condos in New York City’s fabulous Flatiron District development One Madison on the market earlier this year, billionaire Rupert Murdoch is now one listing lighter. The neighboring units went up for sale at the same time asking $78 million in total, with a 57th-floor condo seeking $16 million and a triplex penthouse seeking $62 million. Since the condo sold in October for $12.5 million, the billionaire can now focus his attention on reeling in a big fish buyer for the glass-clad penthouse. It’s been brought down in price slightly and is currently asking $58 million.

For that enormous price, someone can literally live on top of the city. The five-bedroom residence, a mansion in the sky, spans nearly 7,000 square feet with full-height windows offering complete 360-degree city views. The skyline is perhaps best taken in from the great room with over 20-foot ceilings and a 586-square-foot terrace just outside. Total Succession vibes.

The curving staircase, while perfect for a dramatic party entrance, may be taxing for some billionaire buyers. In those moments, the elevator servicing all three levels will certainly come in handy.

Deborah Grubman and David Adler of The Corcoran Group hold this high-profile listing in the luxury skyscraper, where Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady also once owned a home together.
