Matt Damon Reportedly Scoops a Traditional-Style Estate in Star-Studded Bedford, NY

It’s no secret that actors (such as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Bruce Willis, and Glenn Close) love Bedford, a picturesque little town an hour away from New York City. According to the New York Post, Matt Damon is the latest A-lister to be drawn to the area. The publication reports that the movie star and his wife, Luciana Barroso, just bought a secluded estate here for $8.5 million.

Traditional in its style, the property screams “Northeast” with a clapboard exterior and a wooded landscape. It may feel like coming home for the actor, who grew up in Massachusetts, though he’s in Yankees country now.

Baseball allegiances aside, the home is a beautiful find. Damon and his family can play tennis, swim laps, or canoe all from the comfort of home. The property also boasts a greenhouse, treehouse, and antique barn. The main house is, of course, the main event. It was built in 2004, but updated just last year. Contemporary elements like the chic Christopher Peacock kitchen and trendy light fixtures mix with the more timeless details such as walls of French windows and white wood moldings.

Making for easy indoor/outdoor living akin to the couple’s former Pacific Palisades modern, which they sold last year, every room on the first floor opens to stone terraces. Walking right out, one can take in the views, entertain guests, or go for an adventure on the property’s grounds.

At the premiere of his movie Stillwater last year, Damon told PEOPLE that his family was relocating to New York City at the end of August 2021. The Hudson Valley seems a natural next thought, as many high-profile figures enjoy keeping homes here. Compass held the listing that now reportedly belongs Damon.
